Go for a walk

Kent offers beautiful walking paths across the entire county - from a stroll in the forests of the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, to a more adventurous walk along the coastal paths above the White Cliffs of Dover - there is something for all ages and levels of enthusiasm! go to the beach

With the cottage situated in the heart of the county, a wide variety of beaches and seaside towns are just a short drive away. The beaches at Seasalter and Whitstable are about 20 minutes drive to the North; Sandwich Bay, Deal, Walmer and Kingsdown are around 25 minutes drive to the East; and Folkstone is 20 minutes South, with Hythe a little further beyond that*. 

go out for lunch

go to churches, gardens and castles

If you are interested in a cultural excursion Kent has all manner of historic sites to explore. You can find a list of some of our favourite castles, landscaped gardens and cultural festivals here.

go for a round of golf

There are several first class links golf courses in the area, including: The Royal St George's Golf Club, Princes Golf Club and The Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club - although players should be aware that some clubs are for members only, so it is worth getting in touch with them in advance to find out if they welcome visitors if you are not already a member.

go to the zoo

Howletts Zoo & Wild Animal Park is around 10 minutes drive from the cottage, and the Port Lympne Safari Park is about half an hour away*.
